It seems inevitable that when you want to be at the helm on a company or lead the charge, that you must be the rock solid leader with answers to everything. Truth is, you know deep down you have the same fears and uncertainty as everyone, yet you still put up a brave front, but you are afraid, very very afraid on the question if everything is worth it at the end of the day.
When your employees doubt your decisions and vision, you hold steadfast and remain positive. When you hear criticisms, you become defensive. When you face setbacks, you tell yourself it’s alright. Given a prolonged period and eventually you tire, burn out and lose faith.
But is it the end of the world? Does it really mean that because you can’t figure out a process or clinch that vitally important deal, that you are a failure? I think we all have the answer to that. The answer is a big fat NO.
We live in unprecedented times that we are unhappy over the slightest things. We forget that the very fact that having a choice to decide for ourselves represents the ultimate privilege. One that would have not existed in the last 50 years.
So just a short reminder to myself that everything is all good, will be fine and tomorrow will always be a better day. I still have ultimate control over what happens to my life. And for that, I am grateful. This post comes at a time when I am at my deepest self doubt and despair. I feel much better after typing it all out.
To those who happen to chance upon this entry, know that you are ultimately responsible for everything that is happening to yourself. Only you can pick yourself up, cheer yourself and change your own destiny. Don’t give up!
P.S: I miss my kid tremendously.
